April is Rosacea Awareness Month: What You Need to Know
What is Rosacea?
Common Signs and Symptoms of Rosacea
Persistent redness – Especially across the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.
Visible blood vessels – Also known as telangiectasia, often seen around the nose and cheeks.
Bumps or pustules – These may resemble acne but typically occur without blackheads.
Sensitivity or discomfort – Burning, stinging, or itching sensations are common, especially during flare-ups.
Dryness or flakiness – Some people experience rough skin texture or dryness, causing your skin to feel tight.
Eye irritation – In some cases, rosacea can affect the eyes, causing redness, dryness, or a gritty feeling (ocular rosacea).
Rosacea can affect anyone. And while there’s no cure, the good news is that it can be managed with the right care, lifestyle choices, and awareness of rosacea triggers.
It’s important to consult a dermatologist. They can provide a proper diagnosis and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that helps you manage rosacea effectively and confidently. Prescription medications such as topical antibiotics or anti-inflammatory creams may be necessary for more severe cases.
Common Rosacea Triggers
While everyone’s skin is different, these the most common rosacea triggers:
Sun exposure
Heat or hot weather
Alcohol, especially red wine beer, bourbon, gin, vodka or champagne
Spicy foods, chocolate
Stress and anxiety
Harsh skincare products or over-exfoliation
Understanding your unique triggers is key to managing rosacea. Try keeping a flare-up journal—note what you ate, your stress levels, weather conditions, and any products used. Over time, patterns may emerge that can help you take control of your skin.

Skincare Tips for Rosacea
Caring for rosacea-prone skin doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some golden rules we recommend:
Stick to gentle skincare - Avoid harsh exfoliants, astringents, and products that contain alcohol or fragrance. Products containing niacinimide, azelaic acid, and green tea extract can help to reduce inflammation. It's important to introduce new skincare products slowly into your routine to gauge skin tolerance.
Avoid excess heat - Heat (including hot water) can increase redness and irritate the skin.
Pay attention to what you eat - Your diet can make a big difference for those with rosacea. While there’s no one-size-fits-all diet, many people find relief by avoiding common triggers and focusing on anti-inflammatory, gut-friendly foods.
Hydrate with water - A strong moisture barrier helps to keep your skin hydrated and protected.
Use SPF daily - Sun exposure is one of the biggest culprits for rosacea flares. Make sure to reapply every few hours, especially when outdoors!
During a Flare-up - Use soothing products and cool compresses to combat redness and discomfort. Hydrating sprays containing mineral water can also provide relief.
Balance your skin barrier with Korean Skincare - Korean skincare products are known for their gentle, hydrating, and soothing formulas, making them ideal for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin.
Why Korean Skincare Works for Rosacea-Prone Skin
Gentle, Layered Hydration
Korean skincare focuses on hydration and balance, using ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen, and centella asiatica to soothe redness without overwhelming the skin.
Barrier-Strengthening Formulas
Many Korean products are rich in ceramides, peptides, and panthenol—ingredients that help repair and protect the skin’s barrier, reducing sensitivity over time and protecting your skin from future issues.
Innovative, Skin-Loving Ingredients
From snail mucin to green tea extract, Korean skincare offers unique, research-backed ingredients that calm inflammation, promote healing, and support healthy skin function.
Sun Protection is a Must
SPF is a non-negotiable in Korean skincare, and many Korean sunscreens are lightweight, non-irritating, and perfect for sensitive skin. Essential for minimizing rosacea flare-ups triggered by UV exposure.
